Catheter Care

Catheters are used to assist individuals who are unable to voluntarily empty their bladder or those experiencing a neurogenic bladder. A catheter is inserted directly into the bladder to drain any urine through a long hollow tube. A range of different catheters include indwelling catheters, Suprapubic catheters, intermittent catheters and uridomes.

This course discusses basic functions of the urinary systems, types of catheters, infection management and stoma care so Support Workers are able to provide catheter care assistance to their participants.
