Wound Care
The skin is the largest organ of our body and is integral in protecting against infection, regulating body temperature, and acts as a source of sensory. The skin is made up of 3 layers called the dermis, epidermis, and subcutaneous tissue and makes up the integumentary system that also consist of hair, nails, oil glands, and sweat.
This course provides an understanding of the skin and vascular system anatomy as well as the role of support workers when managing the skin, its integrity, and complex wounds.
Goals
The goal of this course is to provide support workers with all the knowledge they need to support participants with managing skin integrity. It provides clear descriptions around their scope of practice when assisting with wounds and communication with management.
